Narcos is an American Crime Drama series also a biopic about Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria, considered as the "King of Cocaine in Columbia". The series shows his rise from a small time smuggler to the Head of the Medellin Drug Cartel. The Series starts with the definition of " Magical Realism- what happens when a highly detailed, realistic setting is invaded by something too strange to believe". The narrative goes on to say that why  the term Magical Realism was invented in Columbia and the story of Pablo Escobar Begins.

The Entire Series is a narrative of  Steve Murphy (Boyd Holbrook), a US DEA agent in Columbia, The scene begins with DEA Agent taking a Hit on the Members of the Medellin cartel at a local bar and the Flashback of Escobar and the Medellin cartel begins.  The year is 1989 and Cocaine business is at its birth in Columbia, Pablo Escobar smuggles electronic equipment, Drugs and Marijuana  across the border and once he gets caught. They way he convinces the cops to let him pass, tells us how big he is going to become. Chilean drug chemist - Cockroach meets Escobar and introduces him to cocaine. There begins one of the biggest Drug Cartel's in cocaine industry.

The Plot of Narcos is heavily based on real incidents and there is very little changes from the actual incidents which took place, in fact in many places the real footage are replaced to introduce some authenticity. Its high voltage drama which doesn't need any addition action sequences or star cast as the plot is itself enough to demand the same. 

Spoilers Ahead

Not to be a spoiler but just to give an insight on what we can expect from the plot let me give some incidents which happens in the course of the series, 

1. In order to destroy some of the evidences which the DEA collects against him , Escobar raids the Palace of Justice in Columbia and bombs it! 

2. Escobar Kidnaps the daughter of the Ex-President of the Columbia and negotiates with the President for his demands.

3. Escobar turns himself in to the government only on one condition that he has his own prison and no police is allowed within 2 miles.

Wagner Maura plays Pablo Escobar in Narcos, one of the tough characterisation in the entire series,  Its quite difficult to portray a historic character but Wager portrayal is really convincing. The series ends with an all out war in Escobar's prison with Pablo escaping the prison, So there is quite probable that there is a second season we can expect, But i think much of the Plot has been over and there is nothing much to tell.

The plot of Narcos as such is really bizarre and true to the reference to “ Magical Realism” the life of Escobar is filled with some impossible events, for instance he becomes a drug Kingpin and then he contests for the General presidential election and wins it nearly, And the most shocking of all incidents is that the government of Columbia succumbs to his demands for a time period of about 5 years. After watching narcos I felt like plots of films like – American gangster and Scarface were nowhere in comparison.

The life History of Pablo Escobar needs a series and a single movie will not do justice to it. It is really engaging one. Though most of it is in native Columbian  if you are up for one of the best portrayal of one of the greatest Drug Kingpins in the Cocaine industry. Chris Brancato has revived one of History's epic figures to reality and Jose Padilha's direction is crisp and engaging.
