Round up of 2015

So here is a list of the List of 15 Hollywood films which I think are really worth watching, written in no order of precedence, the list consist of all genres. Some of them did not gross that well but I think each of them have some unique thing to say.

Inside Out – Completely redefines Animation films: Can be considered as the the best animated venture of 2015, Not for the animation techniques but for the concept as such, The Film is path breaking in many ways. Everything from the cast, the storyline is one of a kind but what makes it really work is that how well we can relate to the film. Inside out proved that animation films are not only for kids but also for adults, From my point of view it has set a new tread in the industry

Martian- Sci-Fi on a whole another level: that’s what I think of the film, The film works not because of the story line, the story is not that unique actually it is quite conceivable in the future, But It is the way the story begins to unravel and the way the film ends is what makes Martian a worthy film. I must say it is one of best performance by Matt Daemon. Actually I thought that he might had done even better if his character had some psychological stuff going on. But it a good one as such

Straight Outta Compton: Biography of the Year ! Inspired by true events and starring Dr DRE and ICE-CUBE, Straight outta Compton is based on the actual incidents that took place in Compton California where the NWA originated. Though it does not have a start studded cast, it is off beat and worth the watch.

Mad Max Fury Road - Non Stop Adrenalin: Easily one of the best thrillers in 2015. The adaptation of the Mad Max franchise in 1970s has been the best action flick in 2015. True to the genre of Post Apocalyptic Thriller, the film follows a chase from the start to the finish with a screenplay which keeps in the edge of your seat. Great performance by Charlize Theron and Tom hardy.

Creed(2015) – And the Rocky Series continues: Though it released quite near the end of the 2015, Creed proves to one of the best films in 2015. Especially for all the Rocky fans this films proves to be a continuation of another series starting. Though the film draws many inspiration from Rocky-1 and even if the film tries to relive the past glory of the Rocky series(Especially the background score and the characters as such) the films stands out on its own with performances of Michael B Jordon and Sylvester Stallone.

Bridge of Spies(2015) – The name says it all: A typical Steven Spielberg flick with his main man Tom Hanks as a Hot Shot attorney, Bridge of Spies as the names implies is a period film in the Cold war between the USA and the USSR. The film follows Tam Hanks travel to the heart of the Cold War zone – East berlin where he has a negotiation with the germans and the Russians to save an American soldier, the story as such has an exciting feel to to I when we hear, But I wouldn’t say that this is one of Tom Hank’s Oscar wothy performance But he is quite convincing in the entire film. Overall a very good thriller of 2015

The Hateful Eight, Wild West Shoot out : The Much anticipated Quentin tarantino Flick released quite near the end of 2015 and it is not disappointing, With Samuel L Jackson in the Lead the film follows the quite the same genre of the previous one Django Unchained though the hateful eight has a lot of suspense and thrill in it rather than focusing on the main characters as in Django Unchained. The film has all the elements which can be found in any tarantino film – non linear narration, quirkiness and most of all that typical action sequences with is unique in each of his films, Definitely worth the watch and I think this will get some Oscars nominations and probably some wins also.

Spotlight (2015): Makes the FrontPage: based on true events spotlight is an investigative news team for the Boston Globe. The film is about a news report concerning allegations against the church and whether or not they proceed with the news, though there is not a striking performance in the film there is strong possibility of this movie getting selected for the Oscars for the Best Film, Director or the Screenplay category.

The Revenant: Leonardo’s sure shot: True to the Name – A corpse which comes back from the grave to haunt the others The film is set in 1823 Montana; the film is an epic western survivor film where Leonardo plays the lead. Stunning visuals and very relalistic scenes make Revenant one of the best films of 2015. And finally I think Leonard might get the Oscar he is waiting for a very long time.

Sicario – Dark and Deep: After Prisoners in 2013 the French Canadian Director Denis Villeneuve returns with Sicario (Hit man), Know for his Dark thrillers Sicario is no short of suspense and thrill and the field is set on a drug cartel in Mexico. Emily Blunt & Benico Del Tero play the FBI investigation team on site. Though it cannot be considered as good as Prisoners in terms of thrill or suspense it is indeed one of the best thrillers in 2015

The Big Short(2015) – The Wall Street game: One thing that’s about this film is the cast it has about 4 to 5 top dogs and combine that with the story of the Wall Street collapse with some Technical  stuff which made the fall we get the movie – Big Short. Actually most of the stuff talked in the film are available in the very interesting Documentary Inside Job, But what makes the Big Short work is the way it is done, lots of drama and the typical way of wall street story telling which keeps the pace of the film always on the high level.

Ex- Machina(2015) : One of a Kind AI film ! What is so unique of Ex- Machina which makes it a worthy film of 2015, Yeah, we know what happens in all AI films the Robot overpowers the creator, that’s the story line even in Ex- Machina but why should we watch it? It is the way the directors convince of the AI and how it finally overpowers him is the high point of the film. It is really realistic right from the secluded life of the Billonare genius to the AI- Alicia Vikander which proves to be too real. Forget all about Age of Ultron… This is the Sci-Fi which you need to watch.

Room (2015): Typical Story but a narration in a whole another level!! Room is a story of a girl and her son trapped by their Captor for 7 years and What happens to both their lives after they get released. This story seems familiar, but the narration is not, believe me! The whole film starts and ends with the perspective of Jack, the five-year-old kid who grows up in the Room, the name he refers to many times in the film. Room (2015) falls under the category of the group of films which are released for the critics and Brie Larson seems to be one of the strong contenders for the Leading ladies in the Oscars next year

Beasts of No Nation (2015) :In the lines of Blood Diamond, Black hawk Down 2015’s African war film beasts of No nation portrays the life of a survivor in Ghana Civil war. The basic backdrop of the film is enough to command the respect which the film is true to give. Truly worthy of a watch

Mr Holmes – A Story we had never heard of : Mr. Holmes can be considered as a Biography of the Sherlock Holmes and his final case, Though it is not as clever or on the edge as Sherlock( the TV series and the film), It is quite slow but it is no short of intelligence or the characterization. What makes Mr. Holmes one of the Best in 2015 is the story and the screenplay of the film. Also it is quite interesting to know that Mr. Holmes travelled to Japan and had solved a case out there. Ian McKellen as Mr. Holmes is really superb, not that it is his best roles but it is perfect job done.
