There is a famous song from "The Doors" - Riders on the storm, ... If you give this man a ride, sweet families will die, Killer on the road,Yeahhhh... (Cover music for Need For speed UG2). After watching Guhan Seniappan's Sawaari's poster this was my thought, Its a pretty common story line which is quite famous in the Hollywood - Psychotic serial killer along the empty roads and taking on one life at a time. Its hight time this genre got released in Kollywood and it is very well made. Sawaari has all the required thats is apt for this genre in Kollywood - Comedy, thrill and drama.
Gist(Spoilers ahead):
A serial Killer, a police cop, an innocent mechanic and a classic HM Contessa are the main characters in the film, them meet somewhere in the middle of the film in a journey between Chennai and an inner part of Andra Pradesh, how the journey ends is the remaining part of the film.
After a thrilling credits starts to roll, along with an introduction about the film, I was under the impression that it would be really dark film, with violence as the major element but the movie is very light hearted and the thrill element is there and you will not feel the time going as the movie progresses.
Predominantly of new faces except for T.M. Karthik, I think this movie wold have been better with some old faces( then again it works well at the end, after i finished watching the film i was happy to see a fine performance from each of them. Its just a wish when you want to contemplate the different roles in the movie). The Driver - Karthik Yogi, needs a special mention in the film for his convincing acting and quite really a one of a kind role, the kind of role which you find it hard to judge weather he is good or bad. Karthik T.M 's versatility of roles keeps on increasing, From a Mad scientist in Indru Netru Naalai to Sawaari now its quite unique what he is doing.
Star Cast: Karthik Yogi, Benito franklin, T.M Karthik, Sanam Shetty
